Job Description
This role will be focused on managing a multi-faceted Accounts Payable process, including payments under construction contracts, long-term project costs, GAAP, and general operating expenses. We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills, analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and reconciling payment documentation supporting the development of solar power plants. The ideal candidate must have experience implementing procurement systems and integrating them into financial reporting in an entrepreneurial, high-growth company. This person will report to the Controller and will not have direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment
- Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry
- Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation
- Obtain and print signatures on all checks
- Assist senior financial officers as needed
- Implement and maintain a procurement system
- Prepare detailed reconciliation and support schedules for month-end close and annual audit
- Work with business owners to understand budgets and forecasts
- Participate in cross-functional teams designed to solve business process deficiencies
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel competency
- Resourceful and comfortable developing project accounting systems and processes
- Experience in the renewable energy or utility power sectors a plus
Work Environment
- DC Office Headquarters located in Georgetown, Washington, DC
