Job Description

This role will be focused on leading a multi-product platform initiative. We are looking for a talented and strategic-minded Senior Product Manager with a deep understanding of operational platforms, CRM systems, EDI integration, and e-commerce solutions within the context of a retail energy company. In this role, you will be responsible for re-platforming operational transactions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing complex projects, driving product innovation, and navigating regulatory and financial challenges in the energy industry. This person will report to VP Product & Technical Strategy and will not have direct reports.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, marketing, and regulatory compliance, to define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Drive the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept to launch, by gathering and analyzing market research, customer feedback, and industry trends to inform product roadmap decisions.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communication, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and financial complexities within the retail energy sector, ensuring compliance and alignment with industry standards.
  • Establish key partnerships with external vendors, technology providers, and regulatory bodies to support product integration, scalability, and innovation.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate product performance, customer satisfaction, and competitive landscape, identifying opportunities for optimization and differentiation.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional growth within the product management organization.
  • Assist the customer experience and sales operations teams by building out automation tools to streamline and optimize their regular operations, improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management roles, with a focus on operational platforms, CRM systems, EDI integration, and e-commerce solutions, preferably within the energy or utilities industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing complex products or projects, from conception to delivery, while meeting strict deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret data, identify trends and insights, and make data-driven decisions to optimize product performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present ideas and recommendations to senior leadership, and influence key stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and financial dynamics within the retail energy sector, including knowledge of regulatory compliance, tariff structures, and billing processes.
  • Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies, product management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence), and market research techniques is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with a passion for mentoring and developing talent, fostering innovation, and driving organizational change in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
