Job Description
The Senior Project Engineer leads the engineering aspects of our solar energy projects. The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle—from development through commissioning—while also mentoring and developing junior engineers. Your expertise will ensure that projects are executed with precision, efficiency, and innovation. Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee the engineering design and execution of solar projects from initial development through commissioning. Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support associate-level engineers, providing guidance on technical issues, professional development, and project management skills. Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Design and Engineering: Lead the 3rd party design of civil, electrical, structural and SCADA studies and design drawings.
- Development Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams during the project development phase, providing technical expertise in feasibility studies, site assessments, and resource analysis.
- Permitting and Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Oversee the preparation and submission of permit applications and liaise with regulatory bodies.
- Site Assessment: Conduct or oversee site visits to evaluate and assess the suitability of locations for solar installations. Perform shading analysis, resource assessment, and other site-specific evaluations.
- Technical Documentation: Manage and review project documentation, including detailed engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and reports. Ensure all documents are accurate and up-to-date.
- Commissioning: Oversee the commissioning phase, ensuring that all systems are tested, operational, and meet performance expectations. Address any issues that arise during this phase to ensure successful project handover.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that all work meets industry standards and project specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, contractors, utilities and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, address technical concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in solar energy. Apply this knowledge to improve project outcomes and drive innovation within the team.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Extensive experience in solar project engineering or a similar field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of solar energy systems and industry trends.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations (NEC, IBC, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Willingness to travel for site assessments, project inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Experience with PVsyst
- Experience with PVCase
- Experience with Construction Management Software (i.e. Procore)
Travel
- This is a remote position with approximately 25% travel required which can include project sites, industry events, land use hearings, stakeholder engagement meetings, team meetings, and CleanChoice events.

Compensation
This position offers a base salary range of $150,000 - $175,000, an incentive plan, and a robust benefits package.
